Passcode Settings

1. Navigate to Settings > General >Passcode Lock

2. Tap Turn Passcode On.

3. You can also change the time after which the Passcode is requred by tapping on Require Passcode.

Note: The options you are given are Immediately, 1 minute, 5 minute, 15 minutes, 1 hour, or 4 hours, with shorter times being more secure.

3. The Set Passcode box will appear. (This is an example of the non-simple passcode.)

4. Then, your device will ask you to Re-enter your passcode.

5. If you choose to use a Simple passcode, your passcode will only be 4 digits in length like this:

Enable Auto-Lock

1. Naviate to Settings > General > Auto-Lock.

2. Set the preferred auto-lock time. Shorter times are more secure.

3. Auto-lock will occur after the specified amount ot time or after you have closed your iPad cover.. After the auto-lock occurs, your iPad can only be accessed by typing your passcode in the passcode text area. Don't forget your passcode!

Cal Poly has a recommended security profile that campus users should abide by (shown below). You can also read and download Cal Poly's Recommended Security Profile/Config here.

Secure Wipe

Secure wipe will delete ALL personal & application data. Do not do this unless you have made a full backup!

1. To securely delete all content on your device, go to Settings > General > Reset.

2. Select Erase All Content and Settings.

3. When prompted, confirm your selection.
